Caring for Plants by Pyun Hey Young is a Korean short story. The main character Oghi is a representative of masculinity and man figure. Because the story is short, we can't infer and know about everything that happened to Oghi and mother in law, but the surprising guess is that Oghi killed his wife and he became a cripple. And Oghi's mother in law hates Oghi, and plans to kill him. 

By reading this story, I imagined Steve Hawking because he was also a renowned scientist, but became cripple and now lost his life. Oghi was working as a professor in university, writing science journal and met a lot of close people. However, after be got the car accident, he is been stopped all outside activities and fewer and fewer people came to see Oghi.

Ironic question I got through reading is "Is Oghi sympathetic character or not?". Because some can think Oghi's situation is worth because he tried to kill his wife and wasn't a good husband, but others can think Oghi as sad character that doesn't have anyone to depend on.
