The Enormous Radio
The family shown in "The Enormous Radio" is in upper middle class side of the wealth, since it mentioned they goes theater a lot, and Irene has some coat similar to mink.
Jim bought Irene a new radio which is bigger and better than the old one. But the radio had some confusing problem that it brings some sounds of bell ringing and the noise of neighbors' talking in the nearby apartment. The one thing which the thoroughly ordinary Westcotts think sets them apart from their neighbours is their fondness for ‘serious music’, and yet the ‘enormous radio’ ensures that they are tuned out from the Mozart or Beethoven they love to listen to, with their listening pleasure being literally ‘interfered’ with by the sounds of their neighbours’ relentlessly real lives breaking in.
This story is written by general man's perspective in 20s century. So Jim looks strict and disrespectful to Irene. And shows the life at New York very well.
