Boarding House is a short story about marriage and feminism. This story shows the women's position in the marriage at that era. The affair of Polly and Mr.Doran looks impropriate in first time, because Polly was young and virgin, but mr.Doran was much older than Polly. It looks like pedophilia. However I realized these kind of relationships were very usual in that era and the position of women in affair, is very dangerous and having much more risk. And therefore, I can understood why Mrs.Mooney wanted to make marriage her daughter with old man. This is because, even if Mr.Doran don't take a responsibility and just ignore the affair and don't get marriage with Polly, that could be a strong weak-point through her life. Also, Mr.Doran is very rich man, so richness would be a strong point in Polly's life. And I'm curious about is love between Polly and Mr.Doran is true love or just a kind of love made my satisfied condition. Because mr.Doran is rich and having ability and power, and Polly is young and attractive, so their love could be made of these background.
